Wanaka is the greatest!
I'm staying at the Outlet Camp which is about 5km from the ever-expanding Wanaka town, just by the (surprise!) outlet to the Clutha river. There have been an average of, oh, two people staying here almost the entire time. This peace and tranquility was broken on Tuesday night by the arrival of some Tibetan monks on their very own New Zealand road trip. They have yet to come into the meticulously clean kitchen and set up their PowerBooks, but I won't be surprised when they do.
The other tent dweller here laughed on the first night when I sheepishly pulled out my computer and its attendant chargers and periperals... His computer was already happpily humming away on the other formica table. We both acknowledged that we're sad cases.
I think people used to go to bed when it got dark at a camping ground. Now all we need is network connections to each site and we're truly 'away from it all'!.
Notwithstanding all of this joyful technology, I'll take some photos to show you the true wonder of this place. It's been rather stormy and I'm just waiting for Sue's wee tent to go airborne, but that only serves to intensify the elemental beauty.
Amongst all this grandeur I've certainly been feeling a whole range of emotions. Especially the sad ones. Not that I can figure out why. I'm sure it has something to do with the fact that I'm not distracting myself the whole time. Not that I'm any closer to figuring out what I want to do when I grow up (or even before then) but as I keep saying, if I have trust, it'll come to me.
I did get asked if I wanted work when I went to the snazzy new gym and did an 'aerobics' class. So I guess if I really didn't want to move on from here..
By the way, do you guys want me to pop some video on this site too? and if you do.. would you prefer it were QuickTime or MPEG?
There's only one way to get to Picton from here.. West Coast here I come!
Righto!
Chris
